If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?

On the 31st of December 2019 at precisely 11:59pm, I stood watching the countdown on TV thinking “2020 is going to be the best year of my life”. I had so much planned for the year… trips to the Caribbean… visits to my friend while she travelled Europe… But it was all cancelled. Even my upcoming study abroad in September is still up in the air.

Honestly, it’s all been a little heart breaking. I’d been psyching myself up for these trips all year, researching places, working and saving as much as I could to make sure I would have the most amazing time. Obviously, the main thing is that everyone is able to stay safe and healthy but it’s okay to be sad that your plans for 2020 didn’t happen.

On some level, I am quite grateful for the time that has been spent in lockdown. I’ve been able to save more money, spend some much-needed quality time with my family and set my goals for the coming year. Yet, the fact that I have not been able to go anywhere has only stirred my desires to travel the world even more and has made me extra determined on turning these dreams into a reality. For the last 13 weeks, all I’ve done is daydream about where I’ll go when the world gets back to normal and I’m sure so many others have been doing the same.

However, today is the day I am getting it down into writing, to physically see my travel goals. I’ve decided to craft my own bucket list of things I want to do and places I want to see over these last few months of 2020 (and probably the first few months of 2021 to make up for the apocolypse series worthy year we've had so far)

So, without further ado, here is My 2020 Travel Bucket List

Vigo - Spain

This just HAS to be at the top of my list as it is the destination for my study abroad! While it was not a place I had considered in the beginning, my mind has been completely changed!

I can't wait to spend some time there and explore what Galicia has to offer...

Milan - Italy

Amazing art and architecture, good food and a stylish fashion sense... What more could you want from a city? Milan has been on my list for a while but I've never made it, unless you count that one time my flight was diverted here for a fuel refill...

Budapest - Hungary

Okay okay.. this is more an over-priced spa trip as I really want to visit the Széchenyi Thermal Baths but hey where better to have a self care weekend than in a city packed with history and extravagant buildings.

Lisbon - Portugal

I must admit, I've been here twice already but I didn't get to see as much of this enchanting city as I would've liked. There's such a mix of things to do and it could easily place as one of my favourite places in the world.

Brussles - Belgium

This one may be a slight cheat as it's an almost definite trip as I'd be visiting my best friend.

I can just picture it now looking for the famed comic book art corners, seeing the beautiful town square and, while its clichéd, eating waffles and chocolate (biggest motivation)

Well that concludes the list so far. While just visiting towns close to us is fine at the minute, it will soon be time to pack our bags again!

I really hope you enjoyed reading it and now it's your turn!

What places are on the top of your bucket list?
